Thermo Fisher Scientific Named IndustryWeek Best Plants Award Winner 2017

An expert judging panel of IndustryWeek editors and advisors has selected the Thermo Fisher Scientific Auburn manufacturing site in Alabama as one of seven 2017 Best Plant winners.

The annual award recognizes North America-based manufacturing facilities that demonstrate excellence across a range of indicators, including productivity, customer care and employee engagement.

The Auburn site was recognized for its continued efforts to improve efficiency and productivity throughout all of its manufacturing functions, from process and tooling engineering to production support. Harnessing the power of a strong teamwork philosophy and a customer-centric approach, the site consistently creates value for its customers, exceeding their expectations through the development of products that meet the highest quality requirements.

Leveraging the Thermo Fisher Scientific Practical Process Improvement (PPI) business system has enabled the Auburn site to become a reference gold standard for manufacturing excellence across the company, embracing a culture of continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery time, cost containment and customer service.

“The annual IndustryWeek Best Plants Awards have a long history of recognizing manufacturing plants that are at the forefront of their industry, consistently leading efforts to boost product quality and productivity, enhance customer satisfaction and provide employees with motivating and fulfilling work environments,” said Siqi Tan, vice president and general manager, laboratory plastics essentials, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “We are extremely proud of the team at our Auburn site and would like to congratulate them on this remarkable accomplishment and their dedication to continuous improvement, which proves their strong commitment to operational excellence and superior customer service.”

The 2017 IndustryWeek Best Plants Award winners will be honored at a ceremony during the 2018 IndustryWeek Manufacturing and Technology Conference and Expo, May 8-10, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
