New global brand creates a stronger platform for innovation, partnerships and growth
At the SSIEM Annual Symposium in Helsinki, Galen Ltd and POA Pharma announced the launch of Galsana, a new global brand for their metabolic product portfolio, bringing together established products, expertise and support services under a single identity.
Galsana represents the next stage in the evolution of the company’s medical nutrition business, creating a clearer and more consistent platform for engagement with patients, healthcare professionals and partners across international markets.
Building on Galen’s heritage as a Northern Ireland head-quartered pharmaceutical company and strengthened by the acquisition of Sweden-based POA Pharma in 2020, Galsana combines complementary expertise to support people living with rare metabolic diseases while advancing innovation and fostering collaboration across the global community.
Dr Dennise Broderick, Managing Director and President at Galen Ltd, said:

“Since entering this specialist area, our focus has been on understanding the day-to-day needs of people living with rare metabolic conditions and developing products and services that offer greater choice and support.
“Our commitment to this therapy area reflects our long-term ambition to advance innovation and deliver better everyday outcomes for patients and their families. Galsana brings that work together under a single global identity that better reflects who we are today and the ambition we have for the future.
“Importantly, while the name is changing, the products, quality standards and support people rely on remain the same. What Galsana provides is a stronger foundation to expand choice, strengthen support and continue innovating in the years ahead.

“Guided by Galsana’s Patient First Innovation philosophy, Galen and POA Pharma will continue to invest in product development, educational resources and practical initiatives designed to improve quality of life, support day-to-day disease management and respond to the evolving needs of the metabolic disease community.”
Dr Sarah Dolan, Associate Director of Medical Nutrition at Galen Ltd, added:

“Galsana marks an exciting new chapter for our business. By bringing our portfolio together under one identity, we can create a more consistent experience for the metabolic disease community – healthcare professionals, patients and partners alike – while strengthening our reach across international markets.
“Products such as our PKU EASY Microtabs and PKU EASY Microtabs Plus demonstrate what Patient First Innovation means in practice – developing practical, game-changing options across rare metabolic conditions including PKU, TYR, HCU, UCD and MSUD.
“As Galsana grows, we want to build on that approach, bringing forward similar innovations that are grounded in trust, guided by patients and shaped around the real needs of those managing rare metabolic conditions.”
