Thermo Fisher Scientific has expanded its Invitrogen™ E-Gel™ electrophoresis portfolio with the E-Gel™ Power Snap Lite System, a compact benchtop instrument designed to support routine DNA and RNA electrophoresis and nucleic acid verification. The system integrates electrophoresis and gel imaging into a single workflow for laboratories processing up to 22 samples per run.
The E-Gel Power Snap Lite System features a redesigned touchscreen interface with preset protocols intended to simplify operation. Using ready-to-run, bufferless precast E-Gel agarose gels, the system eliminates the need to prepare and pour gels. DNA and RNA separation can be completed in as little as 10 minutes, with sample migration monitored in real time.
The integrated system includes a 4-megapixel camera for gel image capture and documentation. Its compact footprint is designed for space-conscious laboratories and shared workbenches. The camera’s touchscreen and onboard software support image capture and editing, while internal storage allows images to be retained or transferred to an external USB storage device.
The system also incorporates a blue-light transilluminator and an amber filter for sample viewing and real-time monitoring. It is compatible with 11- and 22-well precast E-Gel agarose gels, including CloneWell II and SizeSelect II formats, supporting routine electrophoresis and workflow checks.
The instrument’s housing contains at least 10% post-consumer recycled content, according to product information supplied for the system.
Laboratories can explore the E-Gel electrophoresis systems and download the product brochure for further information. The company’s agarose gel cost savings calculator can help laboratories assess potential workflow savings. Users can also request a demonstration or quote to evaluate the system.
For laboratories requiring higher-throughput capabilities, the Invitrogen E-Gel Power Snap Plus System supports 11-, 22-, 48- and 96-well gels, features a 13 MP camera and offers cloud connectivity. Further details are available on the E-Gel Power Snap Plus System.
