Abbott informed yesterday, July 3rd, that there are several ways to tell if a customer’s pack of Thyronorm is authentic or fake. The label of the product has a QR code that, when scanned, opens a homepage with a video demonstrating the advantages of the flip-top pack. On the cap, a real Abbott emblem attests to the legitimacy of the pack, the company added.

This comes after questions concerning the genuinity of its drug Thyronorm were raised across the Indian state of Telengana. The pharma giant said that not only in Telangana, but pharmacies all over India continue to carry authentic and premium Thyronorm. They will keep working to warn authorities about counterfeiters for the protection and welfare of their patients.

The company confirmed that Thyronorm batches listed by Telangana’s Drugs Control Administration (DCA) as not meeting quality standards were neither produced nor distributed by the manufacturer and are therefore fakes. It also claimed to have informed the authorities about the availability of fake products on the market. A business representative confirmed that the batches of Thyronorm listed on the drugs control administration (DCA) government of Telangana list were undoubtedly fake and neither produced nor distributed by Abbott. The integrity of genuine Abbott products remains unaffected. In this instance, they contacted authorities preemptively about these potentially fake medications, and appropriate measures have been taken.
