The market for food supplements is booming! Many people want more than just a healthy diet – which is why they are increasingly turning to so-called “nutraceuticals”, e.g. vitamin supplements.

Manufacturers of food supplements need blister packaging to ensure the safety and quality of their products. The film specialist Liveo Research now offers a new solution for this – the “RecyForm MA” film. This recycle-ready A-PET film provides optimum product protection against external environmental influences such as light, dirt and moisture. In addition, it can be processed on standard thermoforming machines without any adjustments, making it an easy-to-use “plug & play” solution.

If this RecyForm MA blister film is combined with the matching BlisLid MA lidding film, a so-called “One-Material Blister” (OMB for short) is created. This is a blister solution that consists of just one material and can therefore be recycled more easily than conventional blisters. This was previously difficult to achieve, as classic blister packaging usually consists of a PVC or PET plastic film sealed with an aluminum foil (cover film). Recycling such a blister requires the very difficult and time-consuming separation of the two materials. This separation is no longer necessary with this OMB packaging solution.

Another sustainable characteristic of this RecyForm MA blister film is the fact that it contains up to 50 percent post-consumer recyclate (PCR). This comes from recycled plastic bottles, for example. Liveo Research thus contributes to the circular economy, reduces the carbon footprint and also complies with new sustainability regulations.

The combination of RecyForm MA blister film and BlisLid MA lidding film can be recycled in the RIC-1 stream – promoting the circular economy and combating climate change.
