LATAM Cargo Group collaborates with SkyCell to bring hybrid to South America’s pharma market

Fulfilling our mission to deliver medicine to all means shipping pharma products to remote and infrastructurally challenging environments across the world. With our hybrid containers engineered and designed to safeguard cargo in the most extreme conditions, our solution is more than adept for the frontline of pharma protection. Recently, we have formed a new partnership with LATAM Cargo Group that will utilize their expertise of pharma market requirements in South America, while our innovative hybrid solutions will ensure the safe, secure and sustainable delivery of medicines and biologics to patients.

Our new collaboration will expand LATAM Cargo Group’s PHARMA services, adding further shielding from tough climates for precious pharma products during transport to and across key countries in South America, including, but not limited to, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. This is a unique opportunity for both companies and comes at a crucial time for the pharmaceutical industry in South America, as the PHARMA volumes being transported by LATAM this year has more than doubled, compared to the same period in 2020.

LATAM Cargo’s partnership with SkyCell will help increase supply chain reliability and flexibility by ensuring cargo is kept at the optimal temperature throughout its journey, monitored by SkyCell’s IoT and Lane Risk Assessment technology.

South America presents a few challenges to pharma supply chains; notably climate and infrastructure. With LATAM Cargo Group’s vast understanding of the region, it is fully aware of risks but also of how to surpass them. Our hybrid containers meanwhile are part of that solution. They are aptly suited to the extreme weather conditions that can be faced in South America, and add peace of mind for those shipping pharma products to its nations from North America and Europe. The hybrid’s double-door system provides added protection to the medicines from humid climates, while the long independent runtime (202hrs for C/CRT solutions) more than complements the feature by enabling it to function for longer without needing to recharge. Thus it can traverse terrain and high temperatures whilst keeping medicines intact.

By partnering with SkyCell, LATAM can allow pharma companies to optimize supply chains using data to predict and control risk. Our joint risk-based approach, embodied by our Lane Risk Assessment, detects potential risks before executing the shipment and gives all involved partners flexibility, additional security and peace of mind. More than three-quarters of a billion data-points relating to factors including temperature, location, and time will be able to provide a comprehensive overview of the journey and mitigate any risks.

Furthermore, by our sophisticated and reusable solution also reduces CO2 emissions by almost half enabling LATAM Cargo Group to not only hit its own sustainability goals, but also its clients to meet their own. As sustainability is a pressing issue across all parts of the world and in all supply chains, our partnership upholds green values and secure a sustainable future with every shipment thanks to our circular economy principle.

Throughout 2020, SkyCell has seen a large growth in shipments from Europe to South America. We look forward to working with LATAM Cargo Group to provide vital medicines to even more regions, harness their deep network knowledge, and further demonstrate why hybrid is the go-to choice for safe, secure and sustainable pharma shipments.
