Integrated Inspection Systems for Leak Detection in Pharma

The pharmaceutical industry is increasingly moving toward a more holistic approach to quality control by combining various inspection technologies into a single, unified platform. Integrated inspection systems for leak detection in pharma offer a multi-faceted solution that simultaneously addresses cosmetic defects, particulate contamination, and container closure integrity. By merging high-speed visual cameras with sensitive high-voltage leak detection modules, these systems provide a comprehensive assessment of every unit, ensuring that each dose of medication is contained within a perfectly sealed and sterile environment. This integration not only reduces the risk of secondary contamination but also significantly improves the overall efficiency and reliability of the manufacturing process.

Advancing Pharma Quality with HV Leak Detection Tools

Maintaining the highest standards of pharmaceutical quality is a fundamental requirement for the safe delivery of injectable medications. The development of advancing pharma quality with HV leak detection tools represents a major leap forward in the deterministic testing of container closure integrity. By utilizing sophisticated sensors and high-voltage electrical fields, these tools can detect microscopic structural defects that would otherwise compromise the sterility of life-saving products. This high-sensitivity approach significantly enhances the accuracy of the inspection process, providing manufacturers with a robust solution for ensuring packaging integrity and regulatory compliance.

Almac Group, the global contract pharmaceutical development and manufacturing organisation, is pleased to share that temperature-controlled packaging suppliers Cold Chain Technologies and Almac Clinical Services were recently announced as winners of the “Global Forum Excellence Awards for Best Innovative Supply Chain Strategy” and “Best Supplier Collaboration” at the 16th Annual Cold Chain Global Forum in Philadelphia, PA.

The selection of these companies was based on developing and implementing the Almac Pod™ Program: an innovative reusable small parcel temperature-controlled shipper and accompanying qualified refurbishment program. With Almac’s help, the companies co-created a high-performing shipping solution managed by a robust and repeatable refurbishment process, resulting in a program that has enabled increased throughput, improved program costs, enhanced temperature protection duration, weight reductions and reduced waste.

Leon Supplee, Director of Logistics, commented, “I am delighted to accept these awards on behalf of Almac Clinical Services and in conjunction with Cold Chain Technologies. The Almac Pod™ Program resulted from close and continuing collaboration between our organizations and we are very pleased with the outcome and ongoing benefits.”

“We are very pleased to receive these awards at the Cold Chain Global Forum. This represents important recognition among our peers of the value and effectiveness of the Almac Pod™ Program, as well as how this reusable shipping solution and refurbishment program results in real operational benefits to organizations like Almac Clinical Services,” said Anthony Rizzo, Senior Vice President at Cold Chain Technologies.

Cold Chain Technologies is a leading global provider of single-use and reusable thermal packaging solutions for the distribution and transport of temperature-sensitive shipments. The company is ISO 9001:2015 registered, with over 50 years of ensuring product safety for the pharmaceutical, life science, and food service industries.
