In a move that is sure to create a stir within the Asia pharma circle, Sanofi Healthcare India – SHIPL is going ahead and expanding its GCC- global capability centre in Hyderabad, Telangana State with another 2.7 lakh sq.ft. of working area.
It is worth noting that the GCC, with the additional space, can host almost 4,500 employees from the previously forecasted 2,600 employees hence making it one of the largest talent concentrations of Sanofi across the world. It is also going to position the site as one of the top three pharma GCCs in India, confirmed the company.
Apparently, Sanofi, in July 2024, had made an announcement of a €400mn expansion when it comes to the GCC in the six years and also a creation of another 1,600 jobs by 2026. From being a medical hub in 2019, the facility in Hyderabad, India has seen the growth of an exponential nature as it offers numerous services across the global functions of the French pharma giant as well as its affiliates throughout the world.
Sanofi on February 16, 2026, in a release on the IT and Industries Minister D.Sridhar Babu inaugurating the global capability centre in Hyderabad stated that the growth of GCC is indeed going to create quite a varied range of roles which spans research and development, data analytics, digital innovation, medical affairs, finance and procurement services, people services as well as commercial operations, thereby offering some very incredible career opportunities to professionals throughout all levels.
Notably, the present headcount at the GCC is just over 2,600 and the 2.7 lakh sq.ft. of the area is over and above the 2.8 lakh sq.ft. that was announced less than a couple of years ago, said the sources.
Chief Minister of Telengana state, A.Revanth Reddy in his message said that “expansion of Sanofi’s GCC reflects Telangana’s growing stature as a global hub for innovation-driven life sciences [and strengthen] our vision of creating high-skilled employment, accelerating digital and scientific innovation and positioning the State among the world’s leading life sciences ecosystems.”
Madeleine Roach, Sanofi’s head of business operations said “operations at the Hyderabad GCC serve to support critical processes across the drug research, development, manufacturing and access lifecycle. India’s exceptional talent pool in digital innovation, AI, and data science is instrumental in accelerating our transformation and advancing our mission.”
Mr. Sridhar Babu further added that Telangana does remain committed when it comes to offering world-class infrastructure, stability in policy and also a talent pool which indeed lets the global companies to scale with immense confidence.
