Dr. Aliasgar F. Shahiwala

Dr. Aliasgar F. Shahiwala is a distinguished pharmaceutical scientist and academic leader with more than 25 years of experience in higher education, research administration, postgraduate education, formulation development and the pharmaceutical industry. He was previously Professor of Pharmaceutics, Director of Research and Faculty Development and MSc Pharmacy Program Director at Dubai Medical University. His research expertise is in the areas of advanced drug delivery, nanomedicine, formulation and product development, Quality by Design, Design of Experiments, pharmacokinetics and computational pharmaceutical research. He is a prolific contributor to the field, authoring or co-authoring 73 peer-reviewed publications, and editing eight books and contributing 22 book chapters. He is an Academic Editor of PLOS ONE and a member of the Stanford-Elsevier World’s Top 2% Scientists (2021–2025), working on scholarly publishing, peer review and research mentorship. His key areas of expertise and interest are: pharmaceutics and advanced drug-delivery systems, formulation and pharmaceutical product development, nanomedicine and theranostics, pharmacokinetics and biopharmaceutics, Quality by Design and Design of Experiments, scale-up, manufacturing and technology transfer, AI and computational tools in pharmaceutical research, biostatistics, research methodology and research ethics and postgraduate education, curriculum development and accreditation.
