Punit Marathe

Punit Marathe is a retired pharmaceutical executive having more than 35 years of industry experience. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Research, DMPK, Clinical Pharmacology, and Toxicology at Agios Pharmaceuticals. She also holds an affiliate professorship at the University of Washington, Department of Pharmaceutics. Earlier in her career, Dr. Marathe spent a year as an Executive Director at Syngene International, where she was responsible for building integrated drug discovery capabilities in both the US and India. A significantly large portion of her career was spent at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where she most recently led the Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics Department. Dr. Marathe brings extensive expertise throughout multiple areas of drug discovery, including lead optimization, preclinical as well as clinical studies leading to product registration, and life-cycle management. She has authored over 100 publications and has presented at numerous national and international conferences. Currently, she works as an independent consultant in pharmaceutical research and development. Her key areas of expertise include characterizing the ADME profile of lead candidates, establishing PK-PD relationships in animal disease models, projecting human pharmacokinetic profiles and efficacious doses, guiding dose selection for first-in-human – FIH studies, characterizing human ADME profiles, and understanding drug-drug interaction liabilities.
