Dr. Satyam Singh is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Purdue University, where he investigates key subunits of Polycomb Repressive Complex 1 activity as a mechanism of chemotherapy resistance in neuroblastoma. His path to this work reflects a consistent drive to solve some of the hardest problems in cancer biology. He earned his Ph.D. in Biosciences and Biomedical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Indore, where he designed novel EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors aimed at overcoming drug resistance in cancer. During his postdoctoral training at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, he established the deubiquitinating enzyme USP27X as a regulator of oncogenic signaling and PD-L1-mediated immune evasion in lung cancer, a finding that has added to our understanding of how tumors evade both treatment and the immune system. Dr. Singh has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and serves as a handling editor and reviewer for numerous international journals, contributing to the scientific community and that too well beyond his own research bench. His work sits at the intersection of epigenetics, drug resistance mechanisms and cancer cell signaling, spanning epigenetic and chromatin-regulatory mechanisms in cancer, DNA damage repair pathways, ubiquitin-pathway biology involving E3 ligases and deubiquitinases, small-molecule and targeted therapy development, tumor immune microenvironment and immune checkpoint regulation, and pediatric as well as adult solid tumor biology. What stands out is not just the breadth of his expertise, but the way each area connects. Whether he is designing a molecule, mapping a signaling pathway or studying how a tumor escapes treatment, the goal remains the same. He is working to turn our understanding of cancer biology into better outcomes for patients.
